SO in case I haven’t yet convinced you that my hub is THE COOLEST, this post should help me accomplish just that. If you’ve been tracking the Studio progress that he’s made for me, or if you’re a fellow beader, you’ll know that crap accumulates faster than a tornado whipping through a trailer park. Heh – can you tell I’ve been listening to the Blue Comedy Radio Show lately?

He built me the BEST storage for all my beads and I’d like to think that it’s because he’s 110% supportive but I know it’s because 75% anti-clutter. Either way, I love the outcome! You know those multi drawer units that you can find in just about any man’s garage that are full of screws and washers and bolts and other man toys? I had 3 of them. FULL and overflowing with beads and materials. It wasn’t a terrible solution, but I had each unit in a different cabinet, not at all organized and almost impossible to see from lack of light. It definitely did not define efficiency. or ease. or even fun. it became more of a chore to find the items I was looking for.

I had this cabinet that had become a catch all for stuff that didn’t have any other home and thankfully the hub saw its true potential:

Tall Cabinet Before

He turned the top of the cabinet into a packaging center for me to house my bubble wrap and boxes and turned the bottom portion into a work of art:

There’s a shelf for each type of bead material and they’re not your average shelves. Average shelves are built by average Joe’s and my Hub is AWESOME, remember? So each shelf can be pulled out and we cut up some plastic storage bins to house all the treasures. Check this out – and it’s okay, you can be envious!

Seed Beads

Glass

I have a shelf for Swarovski, one for seeds, one for glass, one for wood and one for miscellaneous other items that don’t really fit anywhere else. I did keep one of the drawer units which is now on top of my studio bench and that’s the home for all my jump rings and rubber rings and pendants.

Hello, my name is Heidi Bundy and I have too much crap.

But there is a bright side – it gave me a chance to go through all my items and clean out the stuff that I know I’ll never use. It’s not garbage by any means – it just doesn’t fit the style that I’m growing into. Keep an eye out on Ebay, there will be a 16 lb auction listed this weekend of goodies to make the day of a fellow crafter.
