Getting back home (from FL to CT/NY) to see family is never as easy as it should be. This year we had the opportunity to meet some family in SC so we decided to take a week off and make the drive.

We upgraded the unit my Grandparents had rented to a 3 bedroom for 2 reasons: 1. it forced us to spend time with them and 2. it was a lot less expensive. You know that time that you’d usually spend eating breakfast or waiting for the shower to be free? By sharing an apartment, we got to spend those precious moments with them. And saving the $2K on the rental means we could afford to do a lot more as well and chip in for little things here and there.

So we packed up our goods, organized Stella for the trip and hopped in the car at 9 am. After a half hour detour to Starbucks (we went drive thru expecting it to be faster) we were on the way. Stella was telling us that it would be about 14 hours for the whole drive so we planned on making a few stops to let the Moose stretch his legs.

3 stops and only about 10 hours later we were here and the place is great! The decor leaves quite a bit to be desired, but you can’t beat the view of the beach from the 8th floor balcony right outside the living room.

We’re so excited to be here – looking forward to a full week away from work with no plans and nothing to do but spend time with family and spoil our Moose (who did GREAT during the car ride, by the way). Can’t wait!
